I saw a show of Dodiya’s in Mumbai many years ago – that show was one that reimagined Gandhi. This piece though reimagines my head and points a laser-focused light right at it’s most discombobulated moments.

My father’s side of the family, as you might remember, is based in Lucknow–home to one of the other two LaMart’s–and the school keeps popping up in our family circles. I remember a cousin (who went there) explaining to me back in the late ’80s that there are only three of them; one in Lucknow, one in Calcutta, and one in Lyons, France…
